In 2019, Bailey was hired by the Art & Design Department at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to facilitate Here's My Story, an inclusive public art initiative funded through a $50k grant from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. As Project Assistant, she was responsible for managing all aspects of the project including community engagement, budget management, administrative duties, communications and installation. In 2021, the project is entering it's final stages of installation.
Benches, placed in public locations, serve as a platform for gathering, connecting, and listening. Here’s My Story aims to foster a climate where equity and mutual respect are intrinsic by sharing the stories* of those local citizens who have been historically marginalized. This is a living project and stories will rotate periodically. *Disclaimer: All stories collected through the Here’s My Story project reflect each individual storyteller’s personal recollection of events over time. As such, all opinions expressed are personal opinions and do not directly reflect those of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College or their affiliates. |
