In 2019, Bailey was brought on by the Art & Design Department at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College to facilitate Here's My Story, an inclusive public art initiative funded by a $50,000 grant from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. As Project Assistant, she managed all facets of the project, including community engagement, budget management, administration, communications, and installation.
Entering its final stages of installation in 2021, the project features custom public benches designed to serve as community gathering spaces for connecting and listening. Here’s My Story aims to foster an environment of equity and mutual respect by amplifying the voices of historically marginalized local citizens. As a living project, the featured stories will rotate periodically. Disclaimer: All stories collected through the Here’s My Story project reflect each storyteller’s personal recollections. The opinions expressed are entirely their own and do not directly reflect the views of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College or its affiliates. |
